Tastes exactly like the place visited while in Jamaica The jerk sauce they pack on the side is amazing. Serving size is more than enough. Food: Jerk Chicken is the best I've had the area. Other protein options: The catfish and oxtails I would recommend very delicious. Everything is cooked fresh. Portions Sizes: It’s good portion size for the price you pay. My experience with other Jamaican restaurants I’ve paid 5 more with 25%-50% less portions than Tropic Islands. Customers Service: We have a great experience every time we visit when we are in town. Parking: Free parking at all locations Additional tip: To avoid wait times, I would recommend calling in your food before hand and do a pick it up.
I'm very clearly a fan! I've had everything from brown stew chicken to goat to oxtails to catfish and the food is so consistently tasty. Always ask for oxtail gravy on the rice, you won't regret it. The owners have been in business for over 40 years and it shows. When they're busy, they're BUSY. Be aware of that. It's almost easier to place an order in person and wait. Either way, they're always kind and patient. I can't say that for all Jerk places.
It’s a 5 out of 5 for me! Food was ready quickly and even after a 25 minute drive home.... We opened it up and it was STILL HOT! That is such a huge factor for me because reheating your food takes something away (in my opinion)! They gave us a great amount of food for the relatively small price we paid. My only complaint would be the amount of bones plus how small & frequent they are. I got in my jerk chicken dish. Someone could easily choke if not being careful so just a warning... the flavor and taste make it worth it though. I didn’t go in to get our takeout but my boyfriend did and said they were extremely pleasant. I would definitely come back!
7/1/2024 (Monday) First visit. Placed online order around 5:30pm for pick up at 6:30pm and was called while en route at 6 15pm, which was impressive and thoughtful. I ordered the jerk dinner, jerk and jerk catfish. The food was outstanding, but I'll go back on a Friday and see if they're consistent with the service and quality. I hope they don't disappoint. ***** RED SNAPPER ESCOVITCH ***** This Red Snapper meal was amazing. My meal included plantains, cabbage and rice with beans. Each of those side items were delicious while complementing the fish. Everything was savvy & well seasoned. ***** Also ask for the Obama Tea *******
To be honest I was debating on trying out there food because of the reviews. Everyone have different opinions. So I decided to test the waters. I like the set-up when I walked in. The Lady's was nice. I ordered the lunch dark meat jerk chicken with cabbage and yams. Everything was great and it was fresh. So I can't really complain about anything. Thank you
I arrived as they were first opening today-- they were bringing out fresh, steaming hot entrees. The young lady that took my order was pleasant and patient as I was unsure about what all I wanted. Since I had already had the jerk chicken on another visit, I wanted to try something different. So I choose the pineapple chicken lunch and the oxtail dinner for my husband. The food was delicious and the portions were plentiful! I would definitely recommend this location to anyone looking for a great place for jerk cuisine!
